Game 1 Thoughts

by vernsanders on October 28, 2010

what? nobody wants to know how the game was at the park last nite?

OK…I’ll tell you…

anticipatory

filled with awe (at seeing Monte Irvin) yet some sadness (hearing Willie Mays couldn’t make the game because he was ill…get well, Willie)

nervous

appreciative (listening to Tony Bennett sing an a cappella version of ”San Francisco”)

happy

inevitable (hard to explain, given the “torture” theme, but there is this feeling in the park that when they get ahead, that’s it, given the pitching…)

unadulterated joy (sort of like a certain game of another not to be named world series I was at)

thankful (when the usher took the drunk couple sitting near us away…he ended up in handcuffs, she told us later, on the way to the pokey…although the girl was the drunker one…but not beligerent, I guess)

absolutely incredible (when the whole, and I mean the whole 43,000 voice choir, crowd sang Journey’s ”City” at the top of their lungs as Steve Perry urged them on from his seat via the video board)

nervous (top of the ninth…”torture”)

and…throughout it all…

LOUD

Hi Vern! My husband laughed out loud at this post. He and our son have enjoyed sitting in your season ticket seats a coupe of times this past year!

Let’s go Giants! Glad you were able to go to the game!

Many regards,
Janice
