Be careful who meets you at the door…

by vernsanders on May 13, 2011

This #4 in a series of posts that might be called “Tales from a Life,” and this one in particular is related to this one, in general terms. Everything you read here has either happened to me, or occurred to me as a result of serving in some sort of music ministry position. I suppose this series of posts could also be called “Change Happens…Deal With It.”

The first time I heard this saying, it was …meets you at the train, but the location really doesn’t matter. It might be self-evident, but whether it is the first time you arrive on a church campus, or if you have been there for 20+ years, if someone is waiting for you to arrive, they have an agenda.

And in my experience, their expectation is that you will see things their way…sooner or later…

And, in my experience, that last statement is, sooner or later, true, most of the time…even if the way you affirm it is by leaving your position for “greener pastures”…

And, in my experience, if you do see it their way, you have a friend for life, or…you know…

So if you see somebody lying in ambush wait for you, alarm bells should probably go off in your head. And your listening skills should only be exceeded by the care you take once you open your mouth to say something…

just saying…

Has this happened to you? Please leave a comment and let me know the details…
