And you thought I had abandoned the list idea?

Here is the list of titles that I submitted to MusiCalifornia for my reading session which was held on Monday. Given the nature of things, not all of these may have actually made it into the packet, but it will give you an idea…

There are a couple of important things to know about this packet:

1. It is not a “traditional” choir packet

2. It is not a “worship team” singers packet

It is, very specifically, tunes that cross over, i.e. that traditional choirs who are needing to grow into more of a worship style service can use, and worship teams that want to develop chorally can use. There are more “worship” tunes being arranged/written in this list than “hymns” to reflect where blended is going. Some of the “worship” tunes here have hymns embedded in them. Some of these are several years old. Some are new. Some are off the beaten track.

There are some very fine pieces by very good publishers which are omitted. It is not that they don’t publish good blended worship music for choirs, it is just that I had to choose a finite list, and I know these work from personal experience, having done almost every one of them in churches I’ve served.
