Help is Always Appreciated

by vernsanders on February 10, 2012

I watched the movie As Good as It Gets again last night.  Nice to get reacquainted with it. I came away thinking: some people ask for help easily. Others not so much. Some people give help easily. Others not so much.

I have had the chance to help a friend start up a new website over the past month. Steve Phifer cares passionately about worship renewal, and I recommend his site to you: The Worship Renewal Center. I think you’ll find yourself immediately engaged in what he has to say there.

But of course, it is not enough, these days to just have a website. You need to be involved with social media as well. He’s been on facebook, but, that’s not all there is to social media. And so, this week, I helped Steve figure out the twitterverse (well…at least as much as I know about it). It was an interesting process, and in many ways, deja vu. It wasn’t that long ago that I found social media overwhelming. And now, somebody considers me an expert.

But this is about help. Whether you are an “easy” help giver, or receiver (or not), I’ve come to the conclusion that help is always appreciated. (well…there are, of course, exceptions to that rule, but let’s not go there…) It was good to help Steve this week. I encourage you to look for a chance to help someone you know in the next 7 days. Then come back and tell me how that went.

Are you a difficult helper or receiver of help? Please leave a comment and let me know what you do about that…
